2022 was an incredibly hard year for many people. In fact, the past two years have been emotionally traumatic as our brains and bodies have tried to cope with the pandemic and more.

Learning to navigate life with uncertainty is key. The power relies on observing your mind, realising when you are too much in your head overthinking, instead of being in the present moment and acting in the now.

Perhaps give yourself permission to explore new ways to incorporate mindfulness in your daily life – things like sitting in silence for 5 minutes (or more) daily, starting a meditation class, going for a walking meditation in the evening, swimming in the ocean first thing in the morning, and so on.

Mindfulness helps us to focus on the big picture and respond to challenges effectively, instead of constantly reacting in survival mode.

Essentially knowing your priorities and how to focus on them is extremely important to reset for the year ahead. Identify areas of your life that can provide enjoyment, purpose, and routine to help relieve stress and gain a sense of what you can control. Physical exercise not only helps to strength your body, as well as balances your mind and emotions.

The point here is to focus on one small change at a time, instead of trying to take big steps and end up frustrated and overwhelmed.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Celebrate your new beginnings by choosing yourself first, instead of trying to please others.

It is time to forget the past and celebrate a new start.
